How to Enable ping (ICMP) Service to Imperva SecureSphere Appliances

Below are the steps for enabling ping (ICMP) service to your SecureSphere Appliances for the first time. For you information, the ping service is not enabled either after you do the re-image or from the box.

1. Log to the appliance as root via SSH .

2. Then type “admin“. This is needed when your appliance version is 8.5 and above (this is used to enable the root mode).

3. Type this command “sysctl -n net.ipv4.icmp_echo_ignore_all=0” and “sysctl -n net.ipv4.icmp_echo_ignore_broadcasts=0

4. Then reboot the appliance.
